A spectacular celebration of sanghik surya namaskar by Janardanswami Yogabhyasi Mandal on Rathasaptami 2025
On the auspicious occasion of Rathasaptami, the JanardanSwami Yogabhyasi Mandal organized a grand event of Sanghik(group) Surya Namaskar at the beautiful open auditorium of the Children’s Traffic Park in Dharampeth, Nagpur. The breathtaking sight of mass Surya Namaskar left many in awe.
From 6:15 AM, sadhak from all centres’ of the Mandal began assembling, and by 6:30 AM, nearly 1,000 participants had gathered at the venue. The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp and the garlanding of Swamiji’s portrait by the chief guest, Flight Lieutenant Shivali Deshpande, Director of Prahar Institute, along with the Mandal’s president, Shri. RamBhau Khandwe Guruji, secretary Shri. Milind Wazalwar, and dignitaries Shri. Dnyanesh Pahune and Shri. Dattatreya Kulkarni from ‘Janakrosh’. Khandwe Guruji honoured and welcomed chief guest Shivali Deshpande with a token of respect.
As per the guidance of the Mandal’s teacher instructor, Shri. Rahul Kanitkar, exactly at sunrise (6:42 AM), the 12 mantra-enriched sanghik Surya Namaskars began. The sequence of 12 postures in each Surya Namaskar, as formulated by Param Pujya JanardanSwami, ensures a complete workout for all body parts, activating internal organs efficiently. Additionally, the inclusion of the 5th and 9th postures (named Bhujanuasan) as relaxation asanas allows elderly participants to perform Surya Namaskar with ease. This synchronized mass performance created a visually mesmerizing experience.
Simultaneously, 144 dedicated practitioners embarked on a separate session, each performing 144 Surya Namaskars. During this time, Shri. Sanjay and Smt. Mudgal offered Arghya (water oblation) to the Sun God.
After completing the 12 Surya Namaskars, chief guest Shivali Deshpande addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of mental strength along with physical fitness. RamBhau Khandwe Guruji stressed that Surya Namaskar, being a sattvik practice, enhances and energises the physical, mental, and intellectual strength. Senior yoga instructor Shri. Shyam Deshpande melodiously chanted the ‘Aditya Hridaya Stotra,’ a hymn in praise of Surya Bhagwan.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks and program coordination by the Mandal’s secretary, Shri. Milind Wazalwar.
